Robert L. Coberly, 35, Killed in Hit-and- Run Accident in Sandtown

Sandtown, Delaware (September 7, 2017) – According to Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian occurred on Tuesday night in Kent County.
The deadly incident took place at about 9:07 p.m. September 5, westbound on the shoulder of Willow Grove Road also known as SR10 east of Sandtown Road.
A man identified by an officer as Robert L. Coberly, 35, from Felton, was walking his dog on SR10 when a car of unknown make and model heading westbound on the SR10 hit and threw him into a tax ditch on the north side of the roadway near his home.
The car then fled the scene and traveled westbound.
Kent County Paramedics responded to the crash and pronounced Coberly dead at the crash site. His dog ran back to the residence and was not hurt.
SR10 was closed between Sandtown Road, and Mahon Corner Road was closed for about four hours for clearance of the crash scene and to pave the way for investigation.
